Famed American singer Taylor Swift recently took to Twitter to chide and criticize U.S. President Donald Trump over his recent comment on a shooting incident that occurred during protests over the death of George Floyd in the hands of a now-fired police officer in the state of Minnesota. "Looting leads to shooting, and that’s why a man was shot and killed in Minneapolis on Wednesday night," Trump stated in a tweet, referring to an incident where a man was shot dead by a pawn shop owner outside Lake Street, Minnesota. The shooter was arrested and remains in law enforcement custody ahead of possible murder charges. Police didn't disclose a motive for the shooting, although it's suspected to be related to looting that occurred around the area of incidence.
Looting leads to shooting, and that’s why a man was shot and killed in Minneapolis on Wednesday night - or look at what just happened in Louisville with 7 people shot. I don’t want this to happen, and that’s what the expression put out last night means....— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 29, 2020
In the aftermath of Trump's statement, Taylor Swift threw jabs at him also on Twitter, where she notably has millions more followers than the sitting U.S. President, who is himself a very frequent Twitter user. "After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’???.." Taylor Swift's tweet read. "We will vote you out in November," she ended.

Taylor Swift's tweet was met with support from many, including notable some celebrities, alongside some criticism from people who presumably like and support President Trump.
