Aerospace company SpaceX has raised $1.9 billion in new funding from investors, as revealed by a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchanges Commission. SpaceX has secured $1.9 billion out of a targeted raise of more than $2 billion, filings show. The investors who provided the new funding aren't named. The investment adds up the total amount of equity funding that SpaceX has raised since its inception to more than $5 billion. Although a valuation isn't formally stated, a recent report from Bloomberg noted that SpaceX was looking to raise additional funding at a post-money valuation of $46 billion.

The new financing comes on the heels of SpaceX becoming the first private company to launch an astronaut into space in a pilot flight. Building on that success, the company is set to launch four more astronauts to the International Space Station by October. SpaceX is also ramping up its Starlink satellite internet program, an area where the new funding comes in handy.

The $1.9 billion raise marks the largest single round ever raised by SpaceX since its inception and one of the largest ever in the general aerospace sector.
