The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has offered a statement of congratulations to U.S. presidential candidate Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris after they secured an election victory by crossing 270 Electoral College votes with a win in the sate of Pennsylvania. In a statement, Zelensky offered positive words to the presidential candidate and his running mate, stating that "Ukraine is optimistic about the future of the strategic partnership" with the US.

"Our friendship becomes only stronger!," Zelensky noted.

Biden's win puts him on track to be the 46th President of the United States of America while Kamala Harris also makes her mark as the first female Vice President of the USA. Biden, aged 77, will become the oldest President in American history.

As known, Biden has a long history in politics and has held various political posts for nearly five decades, including 36 years as a Senator and eight years as a Vice President under Obama. He's set to take over at a time when the US is facing significant challenges and grappling with a Covid-19 pandemic that's claimed over 200,000 lives.

Likewise, Kamala Harris is an experienced politician who served as Attorney General of the state of California between 2011 and 2017. She's set to replace current Vice President Mike Pence who served as a Representative for many years and as a Governor of the state of Indiana before taking the VP position in 2016.

A transition to a new presidency is set to take place on the 20th of January, 2021, when Biden and Harris will be formally inaugurated under the US constitution.
